Where the Visit Begins
Front desk staff sign in with their own account and open the chart for the patient in front of them. What they record when the patient arrives is waiting for the medical assistant, the provider, and the nurses who care for the patient later in the day.
Because every person has their own sign-in, the practice can always see who did what, and when.

Why Check-In Matters in Oncology
Oncology patients come back often, for office visits, lab draws and infusion appointments, sometimes several times in the same week. Every one of those visits starts at the front desk.
When the right patient details are in the chart from the start, the medical assistant, the provider, the infusion nurses and the billing office all work from the same information. Nobody has to chase down a correction later.
How the Front Desk Connects to the Rest of Northstar
What the front desk records is in the patient's chart when the medical assistant rooms the patient and when the provider opens the visit. From there, orders go to the lab and the infusion suite, and the care that's documented is what billing starts from.
Every step is done by a staff member signed in with their own account, and the activity is written to the audit log. See Security.
